Step 1 - Navigate to Production Operations on a product card

Production Operations can be created for a product on a product card. Navigate to the "Items" screen, select "Products" tab from the top of the table and click on a product you wish to edit. Find a Production Operations tab next to the General Info and Product Recipe tabs.

Step 2 - Add operation steps

Add the operation steps you need to complete to manufacture your product.

Operation - select an Operation from the drop-down menu or create new by typing the Operation name and selecting "Create new: [operation]" from the drop-down menu. E.g. Cutting, Assembly, Quality Control.

Resource - select a Resource from the drop-down menu or create new by typing the Resource name and selecting "Create new: [resource]" from the drop-down menu. Resources can be workstations or employees, for example. Read more about managing Tasks for Resources.

Cost per hour - enter the average hourly cost of performing the operation step. This typically includes salary cost, but could also include the average hourly maintenance and electricity costs of the workstation, for example. Does not include material costs.

Time - enter the duration of an operation step to produce one unit of the product. This can be later edited on each Manufacturing Order if the actual time spent in production is different from the default value defined in the Production Operations tab for a product.

Cost - the cost of an operation step to produce one unit of the product. This is a calculated field in Katana and cannot be manually edited by the user. Cost = Cost per hour * Time.
