Ensure custom product details (metadata/attributes) from Shopify carry over to Katana sales and manufacturing orders.

What are line item properties?

Line item properties in Shopify are custom fields used to capture extra details about a product on an order. They are often added through Shopify apps like Bold Product Options or Infinite Options.

They are especially useful if you:

  • Sell make-to-order products that require customization (e.g., engraving).

  • Offer more product variants than Shopify’s native limit of 100.

How line item properties appear in Katana

When a sales order (SO) is synced from Shopify to Katana:

  • The custom labels from Shopify appear directly on the SO in Katana under the Attributes/metadata for that product.

  • This ensures all product customization details are visible to your team.

When the SO is made using Katana’s Make to Order functionality:

  • The same labels are also displayed on the manufacturing order (MO), so production teams have clear instructions.

Important notes

  • Line item properties stay attached to the underlying product in both Shopify and Katana.

  • New products or variants will NOT be created in Katana as a result of line item properties.
