StockTrim and Katana

Katana provides you with accurate real-time data, so you can always see what can be manufactured, the current statuses of the operations, what can be fulfilled, and more.

You can manually set safety stock levels for your products and materials in Katana, and by integrating with StockTrim, you can take inventory forecasting to the next level.

Here is how StockTrim works with Katana:

  1. Katana syncs data about your sales orders, products, recipes/BOMs, inventory, purchase orders, and suppliers with StockTrim.

  2. In StockTrim, you can adjust forecasts and set lead times, minimum purchasing quantities, package sizes, and much more.

  3. Based on the above, StockTrim's algorithm calculates the insights you need, using a forecasting model of your choice. For every item in your inventory, StockTrim will calculate the average daily demand, how many days of stock you have left, and the optimal safety stock level and quantity.

  4. You can use these suggestions to create purchase orders in StockTrim and send them to Katana and your suppliers.

  5. Once items are received, Katana will send the status update back to StockTrim.

How to get started with StockTrim

You can connect StockTrim to your Katana account in just a few simple steps:

  1. Create a 14-day free trial in StockTrim by clicking here.

  2. Go to the Load data tab, and choose Katana from the list of connections. Select all the data points you want to load from Katana to StockTrim.

NOTE: Select and load all data from the list. If data isn't loaded, your insights will be inaccurate. If you have existing data in StockTrim, you can delete it before reloading data by selecting Refresh ...

  3. Click Load from Katana, and you will be redirected to the Katana login page.

  4. Enter your Katana login data.

  5. Once your login is confirmed, StockTrim will load your data from Katana. You can configure when to load the data based on a schedule from settings.

  6. Use the Order Plan screen to receive insights about your items. You can use filters to split products and materials into separate views, drill down into items that are manufactured or bought, and more.

  7. Click the Analysis button on a particular row to see additional details and adjust forecasts, set lead times, minimum purchasing quantities, or package size.

NOTE: StockTrim supports lead times on both item and supplier levels. Read more about it here.

  8. After verifying that the forecasts look correct, use the suggestions to create draft purchase orders in StockTrim based on the suggested quantities by clicking Create purchase orders.

  9. Once the purchase order is approved in StockTrim, you send it. If you mark an order as Sent in StockTrim, it will import to Katana. You can also export the order PDF or CSV format.

  10. Once you receive Purchase order items, mark the PO as Received in Katana and the status will sync back to StockTrim.

NOTE: If you use StockTrim for material needs calculations for planning out your purchases, you should no longer follow Katana's safety stock levels for the same purpose.

That's it! You are ready to optimize your inventory with StockTrim.
