This guide shows how to use Make to automatically import supplier contacts from Google Sheets into Katana.

For background, see our Make integration overview.

Set up the automation

This guide will walk you through each step to better understand the connection and customize it to your needs.

Step 1: Prepare your Google Sheet

  1. Open Google Sheets and create a spreadsheet for supplier data.

  2. Add a header row for easier mapping. Katana supports the following supplier fields:

    • Name (required)

    • Email (optional)

    • Comment (optional)

Step 2: Create a scenario in Make

  1. In Make, choose Scenarios from the left side menu and click + Create scenario.

  2. Add Google Sheets as the first module (trigger).

  3. Choose Get Range Values and select the cell range that contains your supplier data.

    • You can copy the range directly from your Google Sheet.

    • Review the header row to confirm it matches your data.

    • Add any other necessary details

  4. Click Save to continue.

Step 3: Add Katana as the action

  1. Add a second module by clicking the '+': Katana → Create a Supplier.

  2. Map fields from your Google Sheet to Katana’s supplier fields:

    • Name → Name

    • Email → Email

    • Comment → Comment

    • Katana internal ID → Katana internal ID (only if updating existing records)\

  3. Click Save to continue.

Step 4: Run the scenario

  1. Run the scenario in Make.

  2. Your supplier data will be imported from Google Sheets to Katana

Step 5: Avoid duplicates

If you plan to run the scenario multiple times, adjust the first module to use Watch New Rows instead of Get Range Values.

  • This ensures only new rows are added to Katana.

  • Prevents duplicate supplier entries.

That’s it! Your suppliers are now being imported from Google Sheets to Katana with Make automation.
