Planning and anticipating stock levels

Manage and predict stock levels in Katana to improve inventory planning.

Stay ahead of inventory issues by forecasting demand and tracking future stock levels in Katana.

With Katana’s Planning and Forecasting add-on, you can predict inventory needs based on real-time sales, purchase, and production data. This helps you avoid stockouts, reduce excess stock, and plan smarter.

Note: The Planning and Forecasting add-on can be added to the Standard plan, and is automatically included in all other plans.


Visualize future inventory

In the Planning tab (found on the Plan screen), you can monitor expected stock levels based on:

  • Sales orders (SOs)

  • Purchase orders (POs)

  • Manufacturing orders (MOs)

  • Outsourced purchase orders (OPOs)

Katana projects anticipated stock levels by week or month, giving you a clear picture of future supply. You can also filter results by:

Tip: Location-based planning helps you monitor supply levels per warehouse or location.


Forecast demand with historical data

Forecasting demand helps you plan better by predicting future sales.

Just enable the Activate forecast demand toggle in the Planning tab to use historical sales data. Katana will then estimate future needs for each product variant, helping you align procurement and production efforts accordingly.
