Save yourself some time when creating products and materials by creating a default setup for usability, tracking, and units of measure.
Default setup
If you head to Settings > Company settings > Default setup, you'll find the option to check/uncheck how each newly created product and material can be used.
If checked, newly created products/materials:
Sell: Can be added to sales orders/quotes
Buy: Can be added to purchase orders/outsourced purchase orders
Make: Can be added to manufacturing orders (requires Manufacturing Management add-on)
Kit/bundle: New products are part of a kit/bundle by default
Tracking
If you want items to have a specific type of tracking by default, you can set that here.
Unit of measure
Determine the default UoM for all newly created products and/or materials.
