When AI Replenishment finishes analysing a SKU, you land on a results screen packed with numbers and recommendations. This article explains what each section means and how to use it to make a confident ordering decision.
The inventory KPI strip
At the top of the results screen you'll see three live Katana figures, aggregated across all your locations:
• On Hand — stock physically in your warehouse(s) right now.
• Available — On Hand minus stock already committed to open sales or manufacturing orders. This is the number to focus on.
• Expected — stock on its way from open purchase or manufacturing orders.
The forecast chart
The bar chart shows 13 months of actual sales history (in solid colour) followed by a 12-month AI forecast (lighter shade). Hover over any bar to see the exact unit figure for that month.
The forecast accounts for seasonality, trend direction, and stockout periods — months where low sales may have been caused by running out of stock rather than low demand. Click "View forecast analysis" below the chart to read the AI's full narrative explanation of its reasoning.
AI-derived metrics
Below the chart you'll find five AI-calculated figures. Hover over any card to see a plain-language explanation of how it was calculated.
KPI | What it means | Where it comes from |
On Hand | Total stock physically present across all Katana locations. | Katana inventory |
Available | On Hand minus stock already committed to open sales or manufacturing orders. | Katana inventory |
Expected | Stock on its way from open purchase or manufacturing orders. | Katana open orders |
Safety Stock | Minimum buffer AI recommends keeping at all times to absorb demand variability. | AI calculation |
Reorder Point | Inventory level at which you should place a new order. Calculated using near-term forecast demand rather than the 12-month average, so it adjusts for upcoming seasonality. | AI calculation |
Lead Time | Supplier lead time pulled from the SKU record in Katana. | Katana SKU data |
Daily Demand | Average units sold per day, based on the AI's 12-month forecast. | AI calculation |
Days of Stock Left | How many days your current Available stock will last at the forecasted daily demand rate. | AI calculation |
💡 Tip: The Reorder Point uses near-term forecast demand — not the 12-month average — so it automatically adjusts upward before a busy season and downward in slower periods. |
Order scenarios
Three scenario cards let you choose how much to order:
• Minimum — just enough to get back above the reorder point. Lowest cost, highest risk.
• Recommended — the AI's suggested order, balancing cost, days of cover, and your lead time. Pre-selected and highlighted in green.
• Maximum — a larger order that extends your days of cover further. Higher cost, lower risk of a follow-up order soon.
Each card shows the order quantity, the estimated order value (using the SKU's supplier price in Katana), and how many days of cover you'll have after the order arrives.
Urgency level
An urgency badge on the result header (and in the multi-SKU table) tells you how time-sensitive the decision is:
Urgency level | What it means | Recommended action |
🔴 Critical | Stock will run out before the next order can arrive even if you order today. | Order immediately using the recommended or maximum scenario. |
🟠 High | Stock is below the reorder point. Order soon to avoid a stockout. | Place an order this week. |
🟡 Medium | Stock is above the reorder point but the trend is declining. | Plan an order within the next few weeks. |
🟢 Low | Stock is healthy. No immediate action required. | Monitor and revisit at your next replenishment cycle. |
⚪ No order | You have enough stock to cover the full forecast horizon. | Use Pre-plan draft PO to schedule a future order automatically. |
📋 Note: When urgency is 'No order', the Create Order button is disabled and a 'Pre-plan draft PO' button appears instead. This creates a future-dated draft PO in Katana automatically timed for when stock will reach the reorder point. |
The analysis drawer
Click "View forecast analysis & instructions" or "View replenishment analysis & instructions" to open a slide-in panel containing:
• AI analysis — a full narrative explanation (up to ~1,000 words) of how the forecast or recommendation was reached.
• Instructions given to the AI — the exact prompt used. If you've requested a re-analysis with custom instructions, an amber banner shows your amendment and lets you revert to standard instructions at any time.
