Although Katana does not yet have a dedicated feature for partial fulfillment of Sales Orders (coming soon!), there is an easy way to account for this situation in Katana already.

To partially deliver a Sales Order:

1. Open the Sales Order you wish to partially deliver.

2. Duplicate the Sales Order.

3. We suggest changing the Sales Order # for the duplicated SO to match the original SO. This would make it easier for you to identify those in the future (optional).

4. On the duplicated Sales Order, adjust the quantities for items by inserting quantities that you wish to deliver at this point.

5. Mark the Delivery status of the duplicated Sales Order to "Delivered".

6. Go back to the original Sales Order and adjust the quantities for items to reflect the quantity that still needs to be delivered (i.e. decrease the quantities by the amount that was already delivered).

This is it! You now have an open Sales Order for the quantities of items that still need to be delivered and a done Sales Order for quantities already delivered. The stock movements and status have been recorded in the background correctly for partial delivery.

What if I am Making to Order for the Sales Order?

The flow for partial delivery if you are Making to Order includes a few more steps because there's a stronger link between the Manufacturing Order and the Sales Order in this case. Therefore, you need to make changes in both sales and manufacturing.

The partial delivery requirement most often arises in a situation where the production for certain items is finished and you wish to ship them out, but the production is not yet finished for all items required by the customer. The following example covers this scenario.

Follow these steps for partial delivery if you have already created a Make to Order Manufacturing Order for the item on the Sales Order:

1. Create a new Manufacturing Order for making products to stock. Click on the global "+" icon at the top of the screen and select "+ Manufacturing Order".

2. To the Manufacturing Order, add the item and the quantity for which the production is finished and that you wish to ship out to the customer.

3. Mark the Manufacturing Order Production status as "Done".

4. Open the Sales Order you wish to partially deliver.

5. Duplicate the Sales Order.

6. We suggest changing the Sales Order # for the duplicated SO to match the original SO. This would make it easier for you to identify those in the future (optional).

7. On the duplicated Sales Order, adjust the quantities for items by inserting quantities that you wish to deliver at this point. These quantities should match with the quantities made with the Manufacturing Order in steps 2-3 above.

8. Mark the Delivery status of the duplicated Sales Order to "Delivered".

9. Go back to the original Sales Order and adjust the quantities for items to reflect the quantity that still needs to be delivered (i.e. decrease the quantities by the amount that was already delivered). The quantities on the related Make to Order Manufacturing Orders will be adjusted automatically.
