Duplicating manufacturing orders in Katana allows for quick replication of similar production tasks, promoting efficiency in repeated operations and an easy way to create a new MO that has similar attributes to an existing order.

Why duplicate a manufacturing order?

Duplicating a manufacturing order (MO) is useful when:

  • You produce the same item regularly

  • You want to use an MO as a template for a new production

  • You need to quickly repeat an earlier MO with similar ingredients, operations, or quantities

This feature helps eliminate manual data entry and ensures consistency across repeated workflows.

What gets copied?

When you duplicate a manufacturing order, the following details are transferred to the new MO:

  • Product

  • Quantity

  • Ingredients

  • Production operations

  • Additional info (comments or custom fields)

A few things are automatically updated:

  • MO # — assigned as a new, unique number

  • Created date — set to today’s date

  • Production deadline — copied if set manually or recalculated if using automatic deadlines
