Easily assign a default currency to each customer in Katana to streamline transactions and maintain accurate multi-currency records. This ensures that all new sales orders for that customer automatically use their preferred currency.

Why set a default currency?

  • Simplifies transactions with international customers.

  • Ensures sales prices are automatically converted using the latest exchange rate.

  • Reduces manual edits on sales orders, invoices, and reports.

How to assign a default currency to a customer

  1. Go to the Sell screen > Customers tab.

  2. Find the customer you want to update.

  3. In the Currency field, choose the customer’s default currency.

Once set, this currency will be automatically applied to all new sales orders for that customer.

Changing or updating currencies

  • You can update the default currency for a customer at any time.

  • If a sales order already exists, changing the customer’s currency will not automatically update it — you’ll need to adjust it manually if needed.

  • Adding a foreign currency for a customer enables you to sell in multiple currencies without extra setup.
