Assigning default purchase prices in your supplier’s currency ensures that purchase orders (POs) are automatically created with the correct currency and price. This streamlines purchasing, reduces manual adjustments, and keeps your financial records accurate in a multi-currency environment.

Why set supplier purchase prices?

  • Suppliers often quote prices in their local currency.

  • Katana lets you store these prices directly in the supplier’s currency.

  • POs for that supplier will automatically use the correct currency and price, while Katana still converts everything to your base currency for reporting.

How to set a default purchase price

Supplier currency on an item card
  1. Open a Product or Material card.

  2. In the Purchase price field, enter the default purchase price.

    • If a default supplier is assigned, the purchase price will be stored in the supplier’s currency.

    • If no supplier is assigned, the price will default to your base currency.

Tip: You can check the converted value in your base currency by clicking the ℹ️ icon next to the price.

How it works in purchase orders

  • When you create a PO for a supplier, Katana automatically applies:

    • The supplier’s default currency

    • The supplier’s default purchase price

  • This ensures your POs always reflect accurate supplier pricing.

Multi-currency purchasing

Once you’ve set supplier currencies and purchase prices, you can:

  • Buy materials and products in multiple currencies.

  • Automatically convert all values into your base currency for reporting.

  • Keep purchasing accurate without extra manual work.
