Exporting manufacturing data in Katana allows you to build custom reports and analyze production performance in detail. You can export both manufacturing orders (MOs) and production tasks (operations) into spreadsheets, making it easier to evaluate costs, workloads, and efficiency.

Exporting from Insights

For high-level manufacturing reporting, use the download button on any Insights dashboard element. This lets you export cost, material, and resource data into a file for deeper analysis with your own reporting tools.

Exporting production data (Tasks tab)

Detailed task-level exports are available from the Make screen > Tasks tab. This view shows all production operations linked to both open and done MOs.

You can analyze two main sets of tasks:

1. Open tasks

These are operations that have not yet been completed.

Each row includes:

  • Resource

  • MO # and MO deadline

  • Delivery deadline

  • Product and Planned quantity

  • Operation and Planned time

  • Assigned to

Tasks are grouped by resource, so you can quickly see workload distribution.

How to use Open tasks:

  • Check the total estimated production time per resource to forecast workload.

  • Compare workloads with MO deadlines โ€” decide if you need to reschedule or assign more resources.

  • Filter by Resource to group related tasks and complete them more efficiently.

2. Done tasks

The Done table lists completed production operations.

  • An operation moves here as soon as itโ€™s finished, even if the MO itself is still open.

  • Each completed task is assigned a Completed at date (specific to that task, not the whole MO).

How to use Done tasks:

  • Filter by completion date to analyze resource performance over a chosen period.

  • Review how much time each resource spent on completed tasks.

  • Compare planned vs actual time:

    • Default operation times are set on the product card.

    • You can adjust operation times on the MO before marking the task as complete.

Export for further analysis

Both Open and Done tasks can be exported as a .csv file, enabling deeper analysis in Excel or BI tools.

Example use cases:

  • Measure total time spent on a specific product or variant in a given period.

  • Evaluate time spent on a specific operation across different products.

  • Compare production performance across multiple Locations.

Key takeaways

  • Export from Insights for high-level cost, material, and resource trends.

  • Export from the Tasks tab for detailed, operation-level analysis.

  • Use Open tasks to evaluate current workload and plan ahead.

  • Use Done tasks to analyze historical performance and optimize efficiency.

  • CSV exports let you customize reports and drill into time, resource, and location-based data.
