Katana's Insights screen is a flexible and modern dashboard that allows you to filter, sort, and analyze data. This article helps you explore all the possibilities to get the most valuable insights into your business.
Search for and apply filters
Each tab in the Insights screen contains a filter menu on the left that affects the entire report. A filter can be applied to multiple fields at the same time.
NOTE: Each filter only applies to that specific report tab, you can't apply a single filter across all tabs.
Search in text boxes by typing and selecting a choice from the dropdown.
You can add or remove multiple values to a filter selection.
Setting default filters
You can save filters so that they'll be set if you return to a dashboard.
Add some filter to a report.
Click Set as default filter in the top right to save your filter selection.
If you want to return to the initial filter settings, click Restore default filters.
Tip: Empty all filter values and set it as default to return to the original filter set.
Changing the date range on a dashboard
Each report has a date filter.
Click on the time period filter to change it to a set period or custom range.
Interacting with charts and applying cross-filters
Each graph offers the flexibility to apply cross-filters for further analysis on the dashboard. This means that you can select, click, and drag each graph or table, which will apply a filter to the rest of the report.
For example, if you want to see a certain period in sales.
Select and drag this certain area on the graph.
The rest of the dashboard will then cross-filter to show data for this selected period.
This way you can apply a filter to tables, bar charts etc. Choose Clear filter to clear a filter if you no longer want to use it.
Clearing filters and returning to default
If you find yourself in a situation where you've applied too many filters and want a restart, reload the tab and it will reset everything back to the default.
You can also clear filters individually in the Filter field by clicking the x next to each.
Adjusting what a chart shows
Some charts allow you to change the level of detail on them. For example, you can view a graph on a daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly level, or you can view a bar chart by channel or shipping location.
To change a category, click on the dropdown to find options.
Choose a time period (in this example).
The graph will reload to show data based on your choice.
Creating pivot tables and adding details to a table
Detailed tables allow you to open even more details as pivot tables. For example, you can see what products a customer bought or see sales by product categories.
Choose a table and click the dropdown menu.
Here you can choose extra fields in the pivot table. For example Quantity and Profit margin.
This adds the selected fields to the pivot table.
