Mapping Amazon products and SKUs to Katana items

SKUs are used to match products/variants to their corresponding inventory in Katana

The main goal of completing a product mapping is to establish a link between Amazon and Katana items, ensuring accurate synchronization of inventory levels and fulfilled items in imported orders.

The Amazon FBA integration can not be activated until product mapping is complete.

How to map Amazon products to Katana items

Step 1: Product linking

Select Yes here if your inventory SKUs in Katana already match your Amazon seller SKUs (also called merchant SKUs). Select No if they don't match.

  • If the SKUs already match (you selected Yes), go straight to step 2.

  • If the SKUs don't match (you selected No), you'll have an option to upload a SKU file to match Amazon Seller SKUs with Katana SKUs prior to product importing

Preparing the SKU mapping file

  1. Click Download SKU template to receive a spreadsheet with your current Katana SKUs and β€˜item variant names’. This will be used as a template.

    1. Open that spreadsheet and enter the Amazon Seller SKU for each Katana SKU to the Amazon SKU (required) column. Any Katana item that you don't list on Amazon as an FBA product can be left without an Amazon SKU (or removed from the file).

  2. Upload the file using the Upload mapped SKUs button.

    1. Once the upload finishes, you can check whether the mapping was correct by going to the Item screen, opening an item, and looking at the External identifiers tab.

Step 2: Product import

To complete product mapping, click on the Start the import button.

This import will first try to match an Amazon product with a Katana item by SKU mapping (if uploaded), then directly by SKU. If no matching SKU is found, item name will be used for mapping. If no match is found, a new item variant is created in Katana.

In the context of Amazon integration, Katana should serve as the source of truth for product information. The product import process will not overwrite any existing product information in Katana. Only if a product doesn't exist in Katana will it be created based on Amazon information.

After a successful import, product mapping is complete, and you'll see a green arrow at the top to indicate it.

Once the integration sync is activated, the product mapping serves as the basis for pulling Amazon inventory for the correct items and for getting the correct items into Amazon sales orders in Katana.

Note: While the sync is active, you can't modify SKU mapping or re-import products.
