Katana AI dashboards

Use dashboards to maintain and refresh any charts or tables AI creates

Written by David Lorbiecke

Dashboards keep charts and tables created from Katana AI chat in one easy-to-access place, so you can quickly reanalyze and refresh a data set you created. On dashboards, each item is called a 'card'.

If you refresh a dashboard, each card updates with your current Katana data.

Note: Dashboards don’t update automatically; you need to refresh for data to update.

Where to find your dashboards

  1. Open Katana AI, the rightmost item in the top navigation bar.

  2. In the side panel, select Dashboards.

Every dashboard starts with an empty one called My dashboard. You can start filling it by creating a chat with Katana AI.

Click the '+' sign to create a tab for a new dashboard. You can drag tabs to change their order, and you can create up to 100 of your own dashboards.

Save a table/chart to a dashboard

  1. In a Katana AI chat, ask for a chart, a table, or a report. For example: “Show my monthly sales for the last 6 months as a chart.”

  2. Select the pin icon on the chart or table to add it to the open dashboard. You can also type “Save this to my dashboard.”

The card is saved with the request that created it. When you refresh, Katana AI reruns that request against your current data.

Build a whole dashboard in one go

You don’t have to add cards one at a time. Ask Katana AI to create a complete dashboard in a single request.

For example: “Create a weekly sales dashboard with revenue by week, my top 10 customers, my best-selling products, and open sales orders.”

Changing a card

Each card shows when it was last updated. Use the refresh icon to update the data with current information, or click the 3-dot menu to access the Edit and Remove options.

Edit: If you choose to edit, a chat will open up asking what you want to change. Write your request and see how the chart/table changes.

Remove: Deletes the table/chart.

Table cards also have Search rows and Export.

If a refresh fails, the card shows an error. Select Retry to try again.

Resize a card

Hover over the right edge of a card until a blue bar appears. Drag the bar to make the card wider or narrower.

How refreshing works

A refresh reruns each card’s saved instructions against your current Katana data. If you leave the page, the refresh keeps running.

Dashboards don’t update automatically, on a schedule, or when you open them. To see current data, refresh a card or the whole dashboard.

Manage and share dashboards

Each dashboard has a:

  • Refresh – update every card on the dashboard

  • Rename – change the dashboard’s name

  • Share – share it with your organization

  • Duplicate – make a copy

  • Delete – remove the dashboard after you confirm

The Delete option is unavailable if there's only one remaining dashboard.

Share a dashboard

The Share option makes a dashboard available to everyone in your organization. You can’t choose specific people.

  • Everyone can see the dashboard and all the data on it, regardless of their data permissions in Katana.

  • Only you and your account Owner can change or unshare it.

Dashboards shared with you

Dashboards that others share with you appear under Shared. You can view and refresh them. To make changes, duplicate the dashboard to get a private copy. You can’t edit a shared dashboard or share it with others.

Ideas for your first dashboard

Try asking Katana AI for:

  • “Monthly sales of my best-selling products”

  • “Cost of goods sold (COGS) by month”

  • “How did my inventory value change this month?”

  • “How much [material] do I use each month?”

Credits

Every refresh uses credits.
