Setting Safety Stock level for products and materials in Katana helps manage inventory by specifying when to reorder based on stock levels. You can easily set and adjust safety stock level directly on the Stock screen to ensure they are aligned with current inventory needs and trends

Why set a safety stock level?

Safety stock levels tell Katana when you should reorder or manufacture more items, helping you prevent shortages and keep optimal inventory levels. You can set them for both products and materials.

Set safety stock for a single item

  1. Go to the Stock screen.

  2. Find the product or material you want to update.

  3. Click in the Safety stock column for that item.

  4. Enter the desired safety stock level.

Note: The Safety stock and Calculated stock columns only appear when filtering by a specific location (not “All locations”).

The safety stock level you enter will be factored into the Calculated stock value shown in the Stock screen.

Bulk methods for setting safety stock

You can update safety stock for multiple products or materials at once:

  • When importing products or materials via spreadsheet, include the safety stock values in the template.

  • When bulk updating existing products or materials, use the bulk update feature in Katana.
