Katana allows you to define default locations for sales, manufacturing, and purchasing activities. By setting these defaults, you can streamline inventory management and ensure that stock movements are accurately tracked and recorded for each specific operation.
A default location is the place automatically assigned to new sales orders (SO), manufacturing orders (MO), and purchase orders (PO). If an order is created (read more), the location field on the order will display the default location that's been defined.
Default location exceptions
Make to Order MOs always have the same location as the underlying SO.
If you mapped your Shopify Locations to certain Katana locations, this mapping overrides the default sales location settings in Katana, and Shopify SOs are imported to the Katana location selected in the integration settings.
You can manually edit the location on each order. For SOs, you can even edit the location in bulk (read more).
The default location is set to your Main location unless you update it.
To change a default location
Navigate to the Settings screen > Locations > Default locations tab.
Find the default location for sales, manufacturing, and purchasing and change them to your preference.
