Efficiently manage your manufacturing components by importing product recipes, also known as Bills of Materials (BOMs), into Katana (rather than manually adding them). This process streamlines production planning and inventory management, especially when dealing with multiple products or complex recipes.

Step-by-step guide for importing product recipes

1. Download the import template

Where the upload data is for adding product recipes in the data import in the settings screen
  • Navigate to Settings > Data import in Katana.

  • Under Add new product recipes / BOMs, click Download template.

2. Fill in the template

  • Open the downloaded Excel (.xls or .xlsx) file.

  • Refer to the comments in the column headers for guidance.

  • Ensure that all products and ingredients listed already exist in Katana. If not, add them using the appropriate import templates for products or materials.

3. Save the completed template

  • After entering all necessary data, save the file in .xls or .xlsx format.

4. Upload the template to Katana

  • Unit of measure: This is set on the item card in Katana and cannot be defined via the import template.
