Direct-to-consumer manufacturers that use Shopify or WooCommerce platforms often provide some sort of product customization possibilities for their customers.

If your customers can choose from multiple different product options (e.g. colors, sizes, add a custom engraving), the options selected by the customer may not be defined on your website as variants of products, but rather saved to each ordered item as custom line item properties on Shopify or as metadata on WooCommerce. This data is imported to Katana and is displayed at the production level.
