When you're creating a stock transfer (while in the Created stage), Katana shows the availability status for each item in the Availability column. This helps you understand how stock levels affect your transfers.
Availability statuses
There are three possible statuses for items during transfer creation:
In stock
The item has enough available stock at the origin location.
You can transfer the full requested quantity immediately.
Expected
The requested quantity is reserved elsewhere (e.g., other transfers or sales).
Katana will reserve this item's quantity and show it as Expected on the destination side.
Transfers take priority over other orders when committing stock.
Not available
There’s not enough stock available to fulfill the request.
You’ll need to reduce quantity or wait for more stock at the origin location.
Priority & commit rules
Transfers have higher priority than sales or manufacturing orders for reserving stock.
Between multiple transfers, stock commit order is based on earlier "Expected dispatch" dates.
On the Destination side, Katana reflects incoming quantities as Expected, based on the transfer date.
Suggestions for better planning
Review availability before committing to avoid overcommitting stock.
Adjust transfer dates to align with stock arrival; earlier dates get prioritized.
