Katana allows you to view and export historical stock levels from specific dates, essential for bookkeeping and inventory management. This lets you select a date and review stock quantities and values as they were, supporting accurate financial reporting and retrospective analysis.
Why use historical stock data?
Katana lets you view and export stock levels for a specific past date — useful for:
Accurate bookkeeping and financial reporting.
Retrospective analysis of stock changes.
Exporting item lists with quantities and values as of a certain date.

Tip: This is a quick way to export items (products and/or materials) from Katana, since they cannot be exported directly from the Items screen.
Viewing historical stock
Go to the Stock screen.
In the top-right corner, find the Date picker (default is set to “Today”).
Click Today and choose the desired date from the calendar.
Katana will display the Value in stock and In stock quantity for each item as of that date.
To return to live inventory, click the date and select Today.
Exporting historical stock
While viewing stock for a specific date, click Export (top-right corner).
Katana will download a CSV file showing all items with their stock values and quantities for that date.
Result: You’ll have an accurate snapshot of your inventory for any date within Katana, ready for reporting, auditing, or analysis.
