Before disabling batch tracking for an item in Katana, make sure to export the batch data to preserve your historical records. Once batch tracking is turned off, all batch-related data for that item will be permanently deleted.
Why exporting batch data matters
Turning off batch tracking will remove:
All batch numbers
Stock movement history tied to batches
Expiration dates and barcodes associated with the item
This can affect:
Compliance audits
Product recalls
Inventory traceability
To avoid losing this information, export the batch history before making any changes.
How to export batch tracking info
Go to Stock screen > Batches tab.
Apply any filters (if needed) to narrow down the items.
Click the Export button to download the batch data for that item.
This will export the info in XLSX format.
You’ll see batch number, expiration date, barcode, quantity, and location.
Tip: You can also export batches for all items from Settings > Data import > Add new batch/lot numbers > Download data.
What happens when you disable batch tracking
All batch tracking data for the item will be immediately deleted.
Existing stock will be grouped into a single non-batch-tracked quantity.
There is no way to restore the batch history afterward.
Final recommendation
Always export and securely store batch data for reference before disabling tracking, especially if you need to maintain audit trails or historical inventory insights.
