In Katana, you can revert a manufacturing order (MO) for a batch-trackable item from Done back to Not Started or Work in Progress. This is especially useful if you need to correct mistakes or make adjustments after marking the order complete.

What happens when you revert an MO?

When you revert a completed MO:

  • Stock adjustments are reversed:

    • Finished products are removed from stock.

    • Ingredients are returned to stock.

  • Batch numbers remain assigned to the MO:

    • Product and ingredient batch numbers are not deleted.

    • The batch number remains attached to the MO record for continuity.

  • The batch itself is not deleted, even if its stock quantity drops to zero.

Example

Suppose you completed an MO that used:

  • 5 units of Material A from Batch #123

  • and produced 3 units of Product X into Batch #456

When you revert the MO:

  • The 3 units of Product X are removed from Batch #456 and stock.

  • The 5 units of Material A are returned to Batch #123.

  • Both batch references (#123 and #456) stay linked to the MO.

Re-completing the MO

If you decide to complete the MO again:

  • You do not need to reassign batch numbers.

  • Katana remembers the previously used batch numbers and retains the assignments.

Notes

  • Reverting MOs can be done directly from the MO card by changing the Production status.

  • You cannot revert an MO if it has already been archived or fully fulfilled in certain workflows.

  • Always ensure that inventory levels allow for proper reversal (e.g. you still have space to “return” ingredients).
