Shiptheory is a shipping management platform that connects manufacturers with both domestic and international carriers to automate shipping labels, manifests, and tracking operations. It allows business owners to create and configure shipping rules based on their order value, weight, and destination in order to streamline shipping. Shiptheory is a great tool to reduce time wasted on repetitive manual tasks.

What can sync between Katana and Shiptheory?

This integration allows you to send sales orders (SOs) to Shiptheory after they've been created and marked as Packed or Delivered in Katana. When opening the order in Shiptheory, the following data should be pulled in from Katana:

  • Recipient details from the customer's shipping address on the sales order

  • Shipment products from the sales order line items

Note: SKU values in Katana need to be unique and can't be left empty for the sync to properly work. Blank SKUs will be skipped by the sync process.

Changes made to the above fields won't sync after a SO has already been imported to Shiptheory.

Once the shipment is processed in Shiptheory, the following will sync back to Katana:

  • Sales order status (according to how settings were defined during setup)

  • The tracking number

  • Tracking URL link

How to connect Shiptheory to Katana

  1. Create an account in Shiptheory

  2. Connect to Katana from Shiptheory following these steps.

How to automate shipping and label printing via Shiptheory

  1. In addition to connecting Katana, you will need to connect your carriers to Shiptheory. You can do that by selecting Manage Carriers -> Connect a new carrier account.

  2. Once you've added your carriers and your sales order is imported to Shiptheory, you can view the shipment, select a carrier, and print your label as shown in this article.

  3. All products are saved to the Shiptheory product catalog. You can add additional details like product dimensions, weight, and tariff codes to avoid filling them in for each order.

  4. To get the most out of Shiptheory, we recommend setting up shipping rules and automatic printing.

That's it! You are now ready to automate your shipping in Shiptheory.
