The serial numbers list provides a complete, traceable history of every serial-tracked product in Katana. Easily view each item's lifecycle, from manufacturing or receipt to sale and beyond.

Where to find it

Serial numbers tab inside the stock screen
  • Navigate to Stock screen → Serial numbers tab to find the list.

Note: This view is available only for products with serial number tracking enabled.

What you see in the list

The list includes the following columns:

  1. Product name & variant – Shows which item the serial belongs to

  2. Serial number – The unique code assigned to that unit

  3. Document links – Clickable references to related SO, MO, PO, or transfers

  4. Availability status – e.g., In stock, Allocated, In transit, Sold

  5. Date Added – When the item was received or produced into stock

Why it matters

  • Complete traceability: Easily see where and when each item moved throughout its lifecycle.

  • Accountability: Identify the source document responsible for each movement—manufacturing, purchase, sales, or transfer.

  • Operational oversight: Monitor serialized inventory to prevent errors, discrepancies, and ensure stock integrity.

How it works

Whenever a serial-tracked item is:

  • Manufactured – the SO or MO creation timestamps are noted

  • Purchased – PO/OPO receipt adds the serial with the received date

  • Sold – SO delivery marks the serial as sold

  • Transferred – Serial moves are logged with origin/destination locations

All this data is recorded and easily retrievable in the serial number list.
