When products are shipped to an Amazon fulfillment center (FC), Katana can automatically import those shipments as stock transfers, allowing you to track inventory commitments and inbound quantities without the need for manual updates.
How to set up inbound transfers
Head to Katana's Integration Marketplace and open the Amazon FBA integration configuration page.
Inside this page, find the Auto-create stock transfers section on the configuration page and enable it to view the setup options.
Enable the toggle and choose which Katana location will be considered the "main origin location" for stock transfers created from Amazon inbound shipments
Shipping to Amazon from more than one location/warehouse?
Add each location and map it to a corresponding Ship from address in the Amazon shipment.
Next, decide which status of the Amazon inbound shipment will mark the corresponding Katana stock transfer as received.
How automatic stock transfers work
Once the sync is enabled, Katana imports all unreceived Amazon shipments as stock transfers.
From there, Katana keeps the status updated automatically:
If a shipment is created in Amazon, Katana creates a matching stock transfer. Inventory is committed to the origin location and shown as expected inbound inventory at the Amazon destination location.
If the shipment status changes to Shipped, the stock transfer moves to In transit and inventory is removed from the origin location.
While Amazon processes the shipment, inventory remains as expected inbound in your Amazon location in Katana.
Once the shipment status changes to Closed, Katana marks the stock transfer as Received and moves the inventory to In stock.
Limitations and more
Katana doesn't currently support partial receiving of stock transfers.
If you're transferring products tracked in batches or by serial number, the automatically created stock transfer won't include tracking data. Tracking data can be added manually.
The integration keeps the stock transfer data in sync with the Amazon shipment. If you edit a stock transfer in Katana, the edit will be overwritten with data from Amazon when the shipment status changes.
If a shipment is canceled on Amazon's side, the corresponding stock transfer will be deleted in Katana.
Using the Amazon Warehouse and Distribution service
In addition to Amazon fulfillment center (FBA) shipments, stock transfers are automatically created from Amazon's internal replenishment transfers between your AWD-stored inventory and the FBA inventory.
To track your AWD-stored inventory in Katana, we suggest the following setup:
In Katana, create a location for the AWD inventory
In the integration's configuration page, set the AWD location as the default origin location for stock transfers
Add another location and map the warehouse locations you ship FBA from to the address names used in those shipments.
If you create an Amazon Distribution center shipment, manually create a stock transfer in Katana from your warehouse to the AWD location, including the same products and quantities as in that shipment. Manually update the status of the AWD stock transfer, as the shipment has been received in AWD.
The rest of the process is handled by the integration - Katana tracks shipments from AWD to FBA automatically.
