In the Shop Floor Control (SFC) app, operators can easily search for ingredients or add new ones to a manufacturing order (MO) by scanning their barcodes. This simplifies inventory tracking and reduces manual input errors during production.

Barcodes allow the app to quickly identify items from your inventory based on their unique identifier.

Search for an ingredient using a barcode

Operators can search for an ingredient listed in the task’s ingredient list by scanning the item's barcode with the device’s camera.

Searching for an ingredient to scan

Steps:

  1. Open a task in the Shop Floor App.

  2. Use the barcode scanner to search the ingredients list.

  3. The app will highlight or filter matching items automatically.

If an item doesn’t have a physical barcode, you can generate and print labels.

Add a new ingredient with a barcode

If an operator needs to add an ingredient that isn’t already listed:

Steps:

  1. Tap + Add ingredient inside the task.

  2. In the Add a new ingredient to task window, tap the barcode scan icon.

  3. Scan the barcode of the ingredient using the device’s camera.

  4. The app will identify the ingredient and add it to the task.

The newly added ingredient will also appear in the MO’s ingredients section in the main Katana platform.

This update syncs automatically with the main Katana app, ensuring ingredient visibility across the system.
