When you create a new customer in Katana, you can then easily add them to a Sales order (SO). From the Contacts screen or inside a Customer card, you can add information such as email addresses, phone numbers, shipping and billing addresses, and any useful comments about your customers.
When creating a SO, you can see if a customer is already existing customers by typing the customer name into the Customer field of a SO, and seeing if they appear in the drop-down.
Creating a customer
Click on the global "+" sign and select + Customer.
You'll then be directed to a Customer card page with the following fields:

-First Name
-Last name
-Company name
-Display Name (required) - Used to look up customers on Sales orders and is visible on printouts
-Discount - A discount percentage added here will be applied to all line items for new sales orders created for this Customer. Read more about customer discounts.
-Email address - Add whichever email address is most useful for this customer
-Currency - This currency will be the default used whenever you create a SO for this customer (only available on Standard and higher plans)
-Phone number - Customer's phone number
-Comments - Add any internal comments for a customer. These comments do not appear on documents when printing.
-Billing address - Default billing address used on Sales orders
-Shipping address - Default shipping address used on Sales orders
2. To add a customer to a SO, type the customer name into the Customer field. If the customer doesn't exist in your Contacts, create a new customer by clicking Create new "customer name" from the drop-down menu or by pressing Enter on the keyboard. The new customer will be saved to the SO and added to Contacts.
Integration imported customers
Customers imported from Shopify or WooCommerce
When creating the initial connection it's possible to import all customers from an e-commerce platform to Katana, including all address data.
If you are using our integration to pull sales orders to Katana, customer info for those sales orders will be pulled automatically to Katana. Katana checks if a customer already exists in Katana:
If a customer already exists in Katana, the already existing customer will be added to the SO.
If a customer doesn't exist in Katana, a new one will be created.
