Offering tailored discounts to your customers can enhance loyalty and streamline your sales process. In Katana, you can set up customer-specific discounts that automatically apply to new sales orders (SOs). This guide will walk you through adding and managing these discounts effectively.

Adding a discount to a customer

Sales order with the discounts highlighted
  1. Access the Customer card:

    • Navigate to the Sell screen.

    • Click on the Customers tab.

    • Select the customer you wish to edit.

  2. Set the Discount:

    • In the Discount field, enter the desired percentage (e.g., 10%).

    • This discount will automatically apply to all new line items in sales orders for this customer.

Note: The discount is applied per line item and does not affect existing SOs.

Modifying an existing discount

  • To change a customer's discount, simply update the percentage in the Discount field on their Customer card.

Important: Changes to the discount rate will only affect new line items added to SOs. Existing line items on open SOs will retain the original discount rate.

Considerations for ecommerce integrations

  • Customer discounts set in Katana are not automatically applied to SOs imported from ecommerce platforms like Shopify.
