Sell in multiple currencies on Shopify while Katana automatically converts them into your base currency for consistent financial tracking.
Requirements
Shopify requires you to set up currencies in your store before offering customers multiple currency options.
Note: Shopify store settings (currency, default location, tax inclusion/exclusion) sync to Katana once per day. You can also trigger a manual update by reconfiguring the Shopify integration.
How currencies sync between Shopify and Katana
When a sales order (SO) is synced from Shopify to Katana, the original order currency is preserved.
Katana then converts the order values into your base currency, allowing you to track sales consistently across all orders.
You’ll see both the original order currency and the base currency amounts in Katana.
Exchange rates in Katana
When a Shopify order imports into Katana, the currency rate is fixed at the time of sync.
This ensures stability in pricing and financial records (the rate won’t change daily like it does for manually created open orders in Katana).
You can still edit the conversion rate manually if needed—for example, to align with accounting system records or actual payment rates.
With this setup, you can sell globally in Shopify while keeping your Katana financials stable and accurate in your preferred base currency.
