This guide outlines the steps to invite operators, assign them to workstations or individual tasks, and set up their access via a secure login code.
Shop Floor App team members in Katana are called Shop floor operators and you can invite them to your Katana account from the Katana website.
Only an account owner or a user who has "Manage users and permission" enabled can invite operators. The person inviting operators will typically set up the devices for operators as well. Take a look at the flow below, along with tips for setting up a device remotely.
Each shop floor operator has a dedicated account and login for the Shop Floor App. Operator accounts are not linked to any certain mobile devices, which means you can log in to the same operator account using multiple devices (simultaneous sessions from multiple devices isn't possible).
Depending on your processes and requirements, you can define shop floor operators as:
Individual production employees (each employee has a dedicated account and tasks list)
Workstations (a dedicated account and task list per workstation)
Inviting shop floor operators
Log in to your Katana MRP account (https://katanamrp.com/login).
Click on the account name in the top right corner and select Team.
Click Add a team member.
Select Shop floor operator.
Add the operator's name and create a 6-digit login code and click Add.
Full name - This could be a production employee's or perhaps a workstation.
6-digit login code - The operator will use this code when logging into the app. Letters and symbols are not allowed.
Now that the operator is added to the account, you can continue setting up the operator device (or save this step for later).
Click on Set up operator device if you want to continue.
Setting up an operator device is done by scanning a unique QR code with the mobile device.
Tip: To remotely set up devices, save the QR code as an image and send it to the Operator.
You can now work in parallel from your mobile device and Katana account.
Click Next on the Katana manufacturing account and you'll see the 6-digit login code for this operator account.
Click Next to see the final step and complete the setup.
From inside Katana, we recommend printing or saving the QR code for future use. The operator will need it readily available each time they log in to their account (e.g. place it next to the workstation or share the printout with the employee).
The Operator account is now set up!
