Manage items permission

Control who can manage items by setting permissions, ensuring only authorized users can edit or delete items.

Control who can create, edit, and manage items in Katana to maintain clean and accurate product and material data.


What this permission does

The Manage items permission determines who can create and update products, materials, and their variants. Restricting this permission ensures that only authorized team members can modify your item data, helping prevent mistakes and maintain account integrity.


What users with this permission can do

A user with Manage items permission can:

  • Create new products and product variants.

  • Create new materials and material variants.

  • Edit product details and configuration.

  • Edit material details and configuration.


Default behavior

  • The account Owner always has this permission.

  • Regular Users have it enabled by default, but it can be disabled.


How to enable or disable this permission

When inviting a new user

  1. Invite the user.

  3. Go to the Workflows tab.

  4. Check or uncheck Manage items.

For existing users

  1. Click your profile (top right) → Team.

  2. Select the user’s name.

  3. Go to the Workflows tab.

  4. Check or uncheck Manage items.
