Managing services in Katana involves editing, duplicating, or deleting them, similar to handling products or materials. The process is straightforward—services are edited via their Service card, where changes affect all associated data. Duplicating a service copies all its details, while deleting it permanently removes it, affecting any orders that included the service.

Editing services

Editing a single service

  1. Navigate to the Items screen:

Shows the Services table inside the Items screen where you can select a specific service

    • Go to the Items screen and select the Services table.

    • Click on the service you wish to edit to open its service card.

  2. Make changes:

  2. Bulk edit options:

      • Sales price: Adjust by setting a new price, applying a percentage change, or adding/subtracting a flat amount.

      • Custom field collection: Apply a predefined set of custom fields.

Duplicating services

Duplicating a service is helpful in creating similar items without re-entering all details.

  1. Open service card:

    • Navigate to the Items screen, select the Services table, and click on the service to open its card.

  2. Duplicate service:

    • Click on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the service card.

    • Select Duplicate from the dropdown menu.

  3. Review new service:

    • A new service card will open with all details copied from the original, including Category, Service Code, Default Cost, and Default Sales Price.

    • The new service's name will have "Copy" appended to it.

Deleting services

Deleting services helps maintain a clean and up-to-date service catalog.

  1. Open service card:

    • Go to the Items screen, select the Services table, and click on the service to open its card.

  2. Delete service:

Shows the delete option on a Service card
    • Click on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the service card.

    • Select Delete from the dropdown menu.

Important Notes:

  • Deleted services cannot be restored.

  • Any pre-existing orders that contain the deleted service will show it as crossed-out.

Additional tips

  • User permissions: Ensure you have the necessary permissions to edit, duplicate, or delete services. Refer to the user permissions guide for more details.

  • Archiving vs. Deleting: If you want to retain a service's history without it appearing in active lists, consider archiving it instead of deleting.
