Katana helps you manage all your customer data under one customer card, which includes customer contact info and customer addresses.

Addresses are used on Sales orders (SO) for shipping workflows. Read more about shipping here.

Customer's in Katana can have:

  • Billing address

  • Default Shipping address

  • Multiple shipping addresses

Managing addresses on customer cards

  1. Go to Contacts screen > Customers table and choose a customer or create a new one.

  2. There are two kinds of addresses:

    1. Billing address is the address connected to the payer of goods.

    2. Shipping address is the physical address that an order is delivered. Under shipping addresses, Katana allows adding Other shipping addresses if your customer has multiple locations.

  3. The address marked as default on the customer card will be used by default when creating new Sales orders.

  4. Clicking on an address field opens up a pop-up to edit the data. Click Ok to save the address.

To use addresses on a SO, you don't specifically need to set them up on the customer card - you can always add a SO-specific address or change the default address on it. Read more about SO addresses

Setting up multiple shipping addresses on a customer card

  1. Open a customer card and click + Add address under Other shipping addresses.

  2. A pop-up will open where you can enter the shipping address details. Click Ok once you have finished.

  3. To change the default shipping address for a customer, click the 3-dots icon and select Set as default. This will move the current default address under Other shipping addresses, and the selected address will be the new default shipping address.

  4. If you want to delete an address, use the 3-dots icon and select Delete.

Managing multiple shipping addresses on a Sales order

You may have a customer with multiple physical locations that you need to ship to while billing is sent to headquarters. In this case, Katana helps you to manage all related addresses under one customer card.

If your customer has multiple shipping addresses, you can select the correct location on the SO by opening the Shipping address field on the SO and selecting Select another address.

Katana will list all the addresses set up on a customer card. Select one from the list, and the SO shipping address will be updated.

Note: If you're connected to an accounting or e-commerce platform, you can go through the reconfiguration flow to reimport all your customers - which will sync all your customer addresses to Katana.
